These pieces were recorded throughout the pandemic lockdown year made as submissions for the United Isolation Ensemble ( unitedisolationensemble.bandcamp.com ), where they were mixed with other artists to make ensemble pieces. I chose mthese favourites of my solo submissions to make this album.
Some tracks are live improvisations, where as others I overdubbed another layer.
1, 3, 4, 6 - are live improvisations
2, 5, 7 - are overdubbed improvisations
8 - are 3 separate live improvisations mixed together
My last album including UIE tracks I made at the start of lockdown (Strange New World) were quite vigorous, adventurous, one take pieces. One year of lockdown recording brought some refinement, and an interest in spaces and atmospheres.
I was surprise listening back at the cohesive feeling on these tracks - a feeling of peaceful, if sometimes unearthly, isolation. I hope that peace communicates in the busy times ahead.
