Two Fields Of Visions
2 long cosmic dreamscapes evoking distances, movement, and light, using haunting textures.

notes
The 10th album by ambient electronic duo Memory Wire does something new in that that it features just 2 long tracks. Trajectory starts with a cosmic soundscape and evolves through minimal repeated patterns and sound textures which give a feeling of movement throughout the piece. Trajectory was recorded live at The Church Of Sound, JT Soar, Nottingham, UK.
Mirage has a stillness, which suggests distance and textures that have a tinkling and a fuzzy glow to them, and a feeling of timelessness. Mirage was recorded live at Aloft Studios, Leicester UK.
Recent albums have featured guests and collaborators, so this is their first totally duo album since Fingerprints, and some of the static textures bring to mind their ambient classic album Aura. Chris Conway & Jim Tetlow did not discuss what they would play before improvising these pieces, and it is fascinating to hear that their sound, though touching base with the familiar, has moved on again.
Whereas their last album Dervish House was all about lyrical minimal patterns, Field Of Vision is all about cosmic ambiances and shades of sound.

background
Chris Conway & Jim Tetlow had been concentrating lately on their work as half of Audible Light, so when the concert date was offered by Jez Creek's monthly event, The Church Of Sound in Nottingham, the date crept up on them a bit, so they had done no preparation, and their was no real discussion beforehand as to what they would play. Just before they went on to play, they briefly agreed to not be too busy and to take their time - that was all. Trajectory is the result.
A couple of months later and with 30 minutes of Trajectory in the bag, they convened at Chris's Aloft Studios to record another 30 minutes. They agreed to play something in keeping with Trajectory. Mirage was the result. Being in the studio rather than live in front of an audience made for a more relaxed and spacious feel to the music, and they were both were surprised on listenign back how much it differed from Trajectory.
